Helen Helping Hands e. V., registered in the Register of Associations of the city of Mainz, is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education in Africa.
The organization specifically supports young people of training age and enables them to learn in its own training workshop for a period of three years.

Helen Helping Hands e. V. is a non-profit organization. The association is registered in the Register of Associations of the city of Mainz under the number VR 40837.
Helen has been living in Germany for many years. In the early years, she organized aid transports from Germany to Nigeria.
In 2008, the association was officially established as a registered non-profit organization. This step was necessary to increase outreach and build trust among donors. Donation receipts are now also available.
The goal was to transport aid supplies directly and without administrative costs to where they are needed most.

The goal was to transport aid supplies directly and without administrative costs to where they are needed most.
Helen acquired decommissioned vehicles such as vans or trucks in order to load them with aid supplies. These vehicles were then sold in Africa, at least partially covering the costs.
The aid deliveries were ultimately not cost-effective, as collecting, intermediate storage of the goods until transport, the purchase of vehicles, and finally customs clearance and shipping of the vehicles all had to be organized.
Times have changed.
Africa is increasingly being flooded with inexpensive imported goods, often with short lifespans. This applies to clothing as well as equipment, tools, and machinery. Due to the short lifespan of these products, resources are consumed, the environment is burdened, and financial resources flow out of the country instead of remaining locally.
It is therefore now of only secondary importance to ship aid supplies to Africa.
A more meaningful long-term solution is targeted support:
-either through sponsorship
or
-or by supporting vocational training as help for self-help
Helen Helping Hands e. V. has therefore committed itself to the second approach: promoting vocational training.
Vocational training enables young people to acquire practical skills and knowledge, creating genuine help for self-help.

Metal Workshop
Teaching of metalworking skills:
Metals, processing, applications, and material properties.
The training also includes accident prevention, safety measures (hearing protection), and teamwork.
Production of Workpieces and Products:
Helen Helping Hands e. V. is largely supported by its founder, Helen Kröber, who contributes significant financial resources to maintain the training workshops.
The organization is otherwise financed exclusively through donations.
Training Facility in Benin City:
First Aid Training
Medical assistance is often not immediately available, and the nearest hospital can usually only be reached after several hours. Therefore, first aid training is an essential part of the program.
